  Haven't you used a beadhead fly which the bead slides backward and eventually breaks the body after some casts? It may happen to big streamer flies which you tend to cast a long distance.

It might not be important on small nymphs because the beads are small and you don't cast long.

All our beadhead and conehead flies have secured bead or cone in our original method. In the experiment, I hit the bead from front with a hammer but bead never moves.

Never try this, as you might damage your vise.
