Probably this is one of the most frequently cast flies in the world. In
spite of the simple structure, Elk Hair Caddis is durable and effective
under many situations. The wing shapes of the real caddisflies and this
fly are different so we don't know if fish recognize this fly as caddisfly
but this fly catches fish just the same so how cares?
A short vivid tail and high viz yarn are special components of this variation.
Works magically in upper river in mid summer.
All our hackling flies are made tough. We over wrap hackles with tying
thread and drop glue into the base of the wing. |

日本、世界中で一番投げられているフライの一つだと思います。簡素な作りながら、頑丈で様々な場面で使える優秀なパターンです。トビケラのウイングとこのフライのウイングの形状は違うため、魚がトビケラと思って食べているのかは分かりませんが、良く釣れますので、魚には美味しい虫に見えるのでしょう。
短めの派手なテールが付いたバージョンで、視認性を上げるためにヤーンが頭についています。基本的には暗めのウイングと組み合わせて使います。真夏の上流域などに行きますと、大変活躍するフライです。
当工房のハックルフライはすべてハックルの上にスレッドで補強がされていて、ハックルの軸が少し切れても全部が使えなくなるようなことは少ないです。またウイングの根元は樹脂で補強されていますので、丈夫にできています。
